Human meta pneumovirus..no

What is CHINA doing again

Is it another Covid

Let's decipher it

HMNV is a category that usually causes upper respiratory tract infection

It's very common; kids usually get affected maximally during 6-12 months of age.

It is similar to the RSV virus which affects less than 6 months.

If we are above 5 years we must have already had this virus once or twice before.

Symptoms-- similar to cold and flu-like running nose, cough, sore throat, wheezing fever, and rash

Some severe forms may cause wheezing and shortness of breath

Do I need to worry?

There is not much to worry about as we have already contracted before.

.

Caution -- elderly patients more than 65 and those immunocompromised may be affected more and can only get serious illness.

What to do?

Follow precautions as in COVID-- wash hands, use mask, stay away who travel to affected areas etc

Thanks
